The KSX-1000 is able to recreate sunlight equal to or better than IEC 60904 9: Class AAA; it accurately measures IV at high repeatability and high throughput with lower maintenance cost.

System Configuration

The KSX-1000 Solar Cell Test System mainly consists of the following high-performance components:

  • KSM Series Probe bar

Note: A chiller unit and a vacuum pump are provided as options for more accurate measurement.

The KSX-1000 was developed for solar cell evaluation as well as for better cell classification accuracy in mass production lines, focusing on three factors to reduce measurement errors: light instability, IV measurement response, and temperature.

The KSX-1000 system can be used for high-speed measurement of high-efficiency cells, such as HIT®, by replacing the IV measuring unit and the software.

Stable Light Source

The light of the KSX-1000 is controlled very precisely, as shown in the figure below. The light fluctuations of the KSX series can be controlled to the level of ±0.1% or less, a level of fluctuation that never affects the measurement. The light can be a single 50-ms pulse, 2-stage pulse, or 3-stage pulse depending on the measurement requirements.

IV Measuring Unit

The IV measuring unit is very simple. Unlike flash-type systems, the light is so stable as not to require any compensation or adjustment. The power supply simply sweeps the voltage from short to open or open to short. The sweep voltage is monitored at its output, not at the solar cell, to avoid the influence of the cell capacitance. Accurate IV data is measured at the cell, the voltage and the current simultaneously.

Using its 4-quadrant operation capability, the unit allows accurate measurement of dark current and Voc.

The measurement results of the KSX-1000 are highly consistent, as shown below. The same 8 samples are tested 10 times, with the probe pins lifted and contacted again before each measurement.
